Imagine yourself standing on the Colorado River, in the heart of God’s country, Moab, on Highway 128 at historic Dewey Bridge. As the water laps at your toes an announcer with a bullhorn shouts, “Ready, Set, GO!”. Such was the scene May 9th at the starting line of the Back of Beyond Stand-up Paddle Board Race that follows the Colorado River through the spectacular red rock canyons of Southeastern Utah, passing some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery – through Moab’s ‘Postcard Alley’ and into Utah’s own ‘Back of Beyond’.
We were stoked to have former 2nd Tracks employee and major SUP lover Andrew Preece there to rep 2nd Tracks and get some paddling in alongside some other amazing athletes. Andrew came in eighth in the “Men’s Elite” class with a total time of 1h 8m 17s. We hope to join the race again next year and extend our congratulations to all the competitors. You can learn more about the race and see all of the results here at Back of Beyond SUP Race.
